JUROR: Andrea Wells, Director, Tibor de Nagy Gallery | Phone: 646.486.4730

Blue Mountain Gallery is pleased to announce our first national Juried Exhibition. Twenty five artists working in a range of styles and media have been selected by Andrea Wells, Director of the Tibor de Nagy Gallery. Tibor de Nagy, founded in 1950, is situated at 57th Street on Fifth Avenue, where Ms Wells recently co-curated the widely reviewed exhibit Tibor de Nagy Gallery: Painters and Poets, and Jane Freilicher: Painter Among Poets. The gallery represents two former Blue Mountain Gallery artists, Rudy Burckhardt and Trevor Winkfield, as well as Louisa Matthiasdottir, Nell Blaine, Fairfield Porter and Larry Rivers.

Blue Mountain Gallery was founded in 1980 as an artist’s cooperative. The gallery’s exhibitions are frequently reviewed in the city and national press. Invitationals are part of our outreach to the artist community from which we spring. With this juried exhibition we have expanded the opportunity to exhibit with us nationally, and allowed the participating artists to have their work reviewed by Andrea Wells, an important New York gallery director.

The Artists in the exhibition are:
Beth Adams, Mary Lou Alberetti, Christina Altfeld, Ana Elisa Benavent, Rachel Burgess, Jian Cui, Scott Duce, Joan Easton, Denise Fulton, Robert Gorder, Tina Han, Tom Hedderich, Ashley Jones, Eileen Kennedy, Marius Lehene, Sarah Lubin Amy Masters, Joseph Morzuch, Scott Myers, Sara Pedigo, Sheri Schwartz, Toni Silber-Delerive, Francis Sills, Marilyn Silver, Ellen Wong

Dalai Lama Speaks, this is one of the two pieces I entered. I was happy to  win Honorable Mention from the judges and 3rd place by the attendees who voted, complete with ribbons and a check! Always nice to be recognized and honored. The other piece was a digital collage which is a departure for me. I will be posting some of the new work soon as it is still in progress.

Art of the Book 4

September 1st, 2012 – 11:21 am
Filed as: Shows

Had an amazing opening for the Book Show last weekend. There was such a great turnout with wall to wall people. I was grateful to have this piece accepted as it has a great deal of meaning to me. I volunteered for the Free Arts for Abused Children in Los Angeles teaching a photography workshop to a group of teenage girls. Since we are not allowed to photograph their faces I took a photograph of them making hearts with their joined hands. I then made an etching plate of the image and hand inked and printed it on special watercolor paper.

You can see the exhibit in Ventura 89 S. California St. Hours are noon-6 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays; noon-8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Exhibit will be up until October 7th. Visit for more information.
