This is the piece juried in to the SB Printmakers show at the Faulkner Gallery in Santa Barbara. It’s always amazing to see the different types of printmaking going on within our organization. Always inspiring, that’s for sure.

Dalai Lama Speaks, this is one of the two pieces I entered. I was happy to win Honorable Mention from the judges and 3rd place by the attendees who voted, complete with ribbons and a check! Always nice to be recognized and honored. The other piece was a digital collage which is a departure for me. I will be posting some of the new work soon as it is still in progress.
This piece was juried into the Santa Barbara Printmaker’s Show and won Honorable Mention. It is an intaglio diptych print on BFK Rives printmaking paper. The prizewinners were very accomplished art educators, so I feel that I’m in good company! The exhibit will be up until May 9th. The JCC is located on 524 Chapala Street in Santa Barbara.
I am pleased to announce that I had an etching accepted to the Atkinson Gallery’s 27th Annual Small Images exhibition. The show, always popular in the Santa Barbara community, will kick off with an opening reception and awards ceremony this Friday, October 5th, from 5–7pm, of course I’ll be there.
There were 281 works with a total of 54 pieces selected to be on display in the gallery this month. Yeah, I’m stoked!

Had an amazing opening for the Book Show last weekend. There was such a great turnout with wall to wall people. I was grateful to have this piece accepted as it has a great deal of meaning to me. I volunteered for the Free Arts for Abused Children in Los Angeles teaching a photography workshop to a group of teenage girls. Since we are not allowed to photograph their faces I took a photograph of them making hearts with their joined hands. I then made an etching plate of the image and hand inked and printed it on special watercolor paper.
You can see the exhibit in Ventura 89 S. California St. Hours are noon-6 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays; noon-8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Exhibit will be up until October 7th. Visit venturaartistsunion.org for more information.

This is one of the two etchings that was juried into the Santa Barbara Printmaker’s Show in collaboration with SB County Arts Commission. Show opens tonight 5-8 pm and will be up until August 17th. Channing Peake Gallery is located on the first floor at 105 E. Anapamu, Santa Barbara. Gallery hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Should be a great show with a variety of printmaking methods represented, an amazing group of artists. I feel so honored to be part of this great organization.
What a fantastic opening, truly one of the best ever, complete with 10 live Green Taras posing as statues greeting the attendees. Once it was packed with wall to wall people, the Taras came to life and assembled to do some beautiful chanting. Truly inspiring. Was excited to have one of my brand new pieces accepted into the show. Titled “Tangerine Trio” All in all it was a wonderful reception and evening. Good job Lark!

You may have heard about the Chain Letter exhibition at the Shoshanna Wayne Gallery at Bergamont Station in Santa Monica, well I am one of the artists in the exhibition or more like, the event. The way it worked was that an email was sent to 10 artists who then sent an email to 10 more artists that they admired and asked them to submit. Over 1600 artists finally were able to contribute. They closed the Shoshanna Wayne after I got in and then opened a couple of other spaces to accommodate the art. Over 1600 artists were able to contribute.
It was quite a scene on intake day, the police had barricaded and closed the street leading into Begamont Station after a couple of hours. I can only imagine what opening night was like, probably a mob scene!
The chain letter concept was carried out in other cities across the world, such as Chicago, New York, Berlin, Paris, Johannesburg and more.
