Christina Altfeld’s Photo & Print Gallery

I am beyond thrilled to have once again been selected to participate in this exhibit with so many talented artists. This print titled “Life” is a polymer intaglio etching inked with a beautiful oil based gold ink onto a hand coated cyanotype.

This piece was inspired by my trip to Egypt last December and January. A trip I had been wanting to make since a social studies class in the 9th grade! It truly was a trip of a life time.

As you can imagine I took a zillion photos that I am currently working with to create an Egyptian inspired series of original prints on the etching press. Stay tuned!

Unfortunately the very festive reception will not be able to take place this year, however, the exhibit is online and the gallery is open. Masks are required with 6 people in the gallery at a time.  If you’re in the area I strongly suggest you make an in person visit, it’s a beautiful large gallery.

I have donated this sweet little polymer etching  titled  “Knowledge and Wisdom” to the auction benefiting the Westmont Arts Education programs. This sweet little monoprint with the polymer etching has been juried into the GIFT IT exhibit of small works for the holidays at the Carpinteria Art Center.  I have an additional monoprint titled “Nesting II” as well as some intaglio etchings that I have made into necklaces. From one of my beach walks, I picked up this kelp and had the idea of using it to print with. Success, I’m happy to announce that this monoprint titled “Naturalezza del Mar II was juried into The Art of the Printmaker’s exhibit at Carpinteria Art Center.

I am honored to have been juried into this year’s Annual Tri-Counties Art Show at Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum of Art, Santa Barbara with my piece “Puka Shell Sunday“. This piece was truly created with the memory of my kids on the beach in Maui looking for puka shells.

2020 is starting right off with a new exhibit at the Architectural Foundation in Santa Barbara. This is a juried exhibit by the Santa Barbara Printmakers, the theme is “Haven”. The prints in the exhibit are all 10″x10″. This one is a monoprint with an intaglio etching, titled “Nesting”.

Exhibit will be ongoing until 3/5/2020. The Foundation is located at 229 E. Victoria Street, Santa Barbara 93101.

I am honored to have been selected to participate in this year’s Under 100 Grand at the Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara. There are 100 works by 98 artists and I’m thrilled to have been chosen. The First Thursday openings December 5th, are usually packed, so much fun to see all the fabulous art and meet the artists. Show will be up until February 3, 2020.

Is the name of my monoprint with paper lithography that is exhibited at the Buenaventurainkspots Printmaker’s annual exhibit at 643 Project Space in Ventura, CA.

While living in Maui, my keikis (kids) were always on the hunt for puka shells. It’s the shells they would find on the beach with a puka (a hole) in it to be able to make their own necklace. These puka shells were always different and such a treasure to find.

The inkspots is a printmaking group that I belong to. We will be having our annual exhibit in a week. Still taking care of some details. If you’re in the area, hope you can stop by and meet the rest of the inkspots and see our new work.

Christina had her monotype “Beach Day” accepted to the CA 101 2019 exhibit in Redondo Beach and it sold to a new collector.
